The microalga Schizochytrium sp. is able to naturally produce the vital omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) – in larger quantities – and to a lesser extent EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) – in an advantageous 2:1 ratio and in natural triglyceride form. From an amount of 250 mg, DHA contributes to maintaining normal vision and brain function and, like eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), contributes to normal heart function.
